Sony Computer Entertainment is by far one of the leading companies when it comes to producing game consoles. Their Playstation 1 that was first launched 1994, represented a huge leap forward in gaming and the Playstation 2 remains the best selling gaming console of all time.
When compared to other gaming console manufacturers, the Sony Playstation is most definitely ahead of the curve in terms of cutting edge technology, graphics, audio and online gaming. It represents the ultimate in home entertainment.
Following the launch of the Playstation 2 in March 2000, the next incarnation of the console was launched in November 2006 as (you’ve guessed it!) the Playstation 3. This also represented another bound ahead in terms of technological progression and the all round gaming experience. The current incarnation is the Playstation 4, launched, launched in November 2013. More commonly referred to as the PS4, it is this most recent console that will be the focus of this blog post.
Introducing the Playstation 4
With a more powerful APU than it’s predecessor, the PS4 offers unparalleled performance and visuals. It takes online gaming and social interaction to a whole new level through integration with other devices. For the first time since its inception, the iconic Playstation controller has also been redesigned for this outing of the console.
It is destined to outperform of all of it’s rivals in terms of gaming experience and overall sales. It is the ultimate in the modern gaming experience. Many gamers have traded in the older consoles and even newer models by other manufacturers in order to get their hands on the Playstation 4.
The range of games and functions is mindblowing and far exceeds anything that has gone before it by any manufacturer in the industry. Playing with the console is more akin to using a simulator or a virtual real life experience rather than playing a mere computer game. Such is the level of performance and experience it offers.
If you are familiar with the Playstation line of consoles, you will be aware of the various benefits they have to offer in terms of a home entertainment system as well as just a gaming experience. This could not be more true of the PS4. The multi-purpose features of the Playstation 4 have been key to it’s success.
The sleek, contemporary and modern design makes the PS4 aesthetically more attractive than its counterparts and has proved to be a real head turner in terms of modern consoles. But of course, it is what goes on inside that is of real importance to the owner/gamer.
It is fully capable of reading Blu-ray discs 3 times faster than the PS3 and has Wifi, Ethernet and Bluetooth functionality. It comes with a massive 500 gigabyte hard drive, which is fully upgradable. The newly designed controller comes with Dualshock 4, motion detection and Bluetooth connectivity, adding even more realism to the gaming experience while expanding its ease of use.
As did its predecessor, the PS4 offers online gaming functionality via Wifi, technology, allowing gamers to play against friends and family remotely, or even against people living on the other side of the world in what can only be described as a virtual community.. The possibilities that this represents are both vast and mesmerizing.
The console also offers access to and a download capability from the PlayStation Network services, which include the Playstation Store, Playstation Plus as well as Playstation Video and Playstation Music. Third party services such as Spotify, Netflix and amazon can also be accessed. Accessories such as the Playstation Camera and Playstation VR can be utilised to further enhance the gaming experience.

In terms of getting the best deal when buying a PS$, you really need to do your homework. The PS4 was initially launched at $399, but 3 years down the line, better deals can be had. It is advisable to check out various comparison and consumer websites and services for the best prices on the market prior to parting with your hard earned cash. I can thouroughly recoomend http://www.for-sale.com/ for readers of this blog post in the United States of America.
